Student of the Sky
Day burns to night and the edges cut my soul.
I close my eyes and see sparks of suns.
I see in the night what the concealed daylight hides.
I am amazed by the blues, greens, and violets of the North Pole sky.
They both may lie but their light is always is true.
The stars are the providers of life.
The atmosphere protects us
preventing the harmful wave-whips of ultraviolet light
from slapping the earth.
Light is a shield that protects only one
and darkness is a blanket that covers all.
Sleep walks and talks.
Eyes stitched closed.
Smile.
Pearly white teeth.
I run in the darkness looking for a way
but neither moon nor sun has been able to brighten the path.
The sun is the father of our solar system.
He does not want his precious planets
to shy away from him.
The moon is the guardian of the earth.
Watching over us, lighting up the night.
They are both related, both a part of me.
I shall never completely understand why they chose us
and not some other green and blue planet.
I question life, and how important it is.
Time may slow down
or it can also pass you by.
The future is far
So we must live in the present.
We must appreciate the warmth
that the sun provides
and take advantage
of the shade the moon gives us.
You must pay attention for they speak only once.
Sit down and watch
as the golden horse rises
and the silver wolf wakes up and plays.
Day burns to night and the edges cut my soul.
