It is early morning,
The sun is just rising,
½ circle brightly standing
Behind the shadows of the skyscrapers
In the sky.
Beep! Beep!
Get out of my way! he yells .
His blue Yankees hat almost falling out the window.
He turns at 60 mph
The back wobbles like a school of jellyfish
Being attacked by sharks
With blood dripping from her jaws.
I guess I’ll catch the next one
But you can never catch a taxi here.
Everyone hates paying for the gas
Tons of people walk,
And others talk,
I’m here alone.
Taking everything in.
It’s late at night
The sun just set
The moon is out,
Behind the shadow of the skyscrapers
In the sky.

i love the poet's combination of nature and city images in this poem
Feels like a vivid snapshot (or video I suppose) of the cityscape. Can one be alone in a crowd?
I think "Views" is a wonderful title for this poem. Each stanza gave me a new perspective on that moment!
Nice poem Audris- did you write this aabout a trip to New York?
