Shores of Peace
A blanket of water
that I look at intently as it lies on the sand
I see the peaceful receding waves
ascend through the great blue
but as I continue to staring
the last thing I think about is
calm
I hear the brutal roars from the seas
as they cry out for help
each day I witness them
getting polluted
as mother nature’s plane
takes flight
and brings in filth
from across the world
Boots crawling to the shore
baby whales washed up on the beach
Budweiser bottles gasping for air
sea turtles whose necks are caught by plastic rings
license plates scattering
a school of fish fleeing as a shark stalks them
But to people
it’s a picturesque scene
at first
an attraction
a roller coaster
a museum exhibit
seeing the fish swimming freely
but as they continue to stare
the last thing they think about is
calm

This is great. It's very 'informative' in that I can see what you see and I also understand the plea to the reader to think beyond the surface. The reader can appreciate that there is more going on here than just a serene scene.
