Old Teddy Bear
I am an old teddy Bear
My owner loves me face to face
But when her friends come over I am a disgrace
Is that your teddy bear they ask
No she replies
Then why is it here and why does it have no eyes
It’s my sisters she said as she throws me in
The corner
I close my eyes feeling hurt and crying like
A mourner
when her friends’ leave she picks me up and hugs me
I feel so ugly
Why does she always have to lie
I feel used and used and I don’t know why
Every time this happens I want to cry

I love this! Great job personifying a tattered old object and bringing it to life.
Excellent commentary of the struggles of growing up. Being stuck in the middle of not being an adult and not a child anymore is a great topic to write about. You made the conflict come to life in a personal way...Bravo
The teddy bear is such a great symbol for our ambivalent feelings about wanting to grow up but loving our childhood. Nicely done!
Wow! Samantha, you clearly have a gift for seeing things from another perspective. I love that you have such empathy for the teddy bear. You must be a writer, because only writers can do that so well...
